HOPE CHRONOLOGIES Chester County Pennsylvania - 1685-1791

This is an attempt to set the record of the Hope surnamed persons in Chester County Pennsylvania out in a logical order so as to facilitate the research of these persons.

Transcribed by Richard Hope 18 July 2002 from several reference documents. This document is as accurate as I can make it, however it is not perfect, in many cases I am relying on work done by previous persons who are unknown to me and I do not know how accurate their work was. Also, it is possible that I have not transcribed everything perfectly.

·        1685: Thomas Hopes and John Hopes arrive onboard Unicorne from Bristoll 12/16/1685,

·        1690: Chester County Court record; Nicolass Piles delivered a deed in oppen court unto Thomas Hope for one hundred acres of land lying in Thornbery, dtd thirthyeth day of the ninth month one thousand six hundred and ninety,

·        1693: Chester County Court record; Thomas Hoape, bound over R.E. wheither Mary Matin was with childe by Thomas Hoape. Att Chester for the County of Chester 12^th day of December 1693 (three appearances over what appears to be a three month period, Mary Martin was not with child)

·        1695/6: Chester County Court record; A deed acknowledged by Thomas Hoape to William Brainton for 100 acres of land lying att the north end of Concord, dtd tenth day of ye first month 1695/6

·        1696: Chester County Court record; James Standfield acknowledged a deed to Thomas Hope for 100 acres of land lying in the township of marpoole. dtd, eight day of September Anno: Domi: 1696

·        1696: Chester Monthly Meeting Note: Thomas Hope (Hopes) and Elizabeth Standfield announce marriage intentions 12-22-1696, announce marriage intentions second time, marriage allowed 1-27=1697

·        1703: Concord Monthly Meeting note: Thomas Hope received on certificate from Chester Monthly meeting dtd 4-13-1703

·        1703: Chester County Court record; Thomas Massey delivered a deed to Thomas Hoope for 8 7/8 acres in Marple dtd 13. of the 6. Month 1703

·        1703: Chester County Court record; Robert Pennell & Benjamin Mendinghall delivered a deed to Thomas Hope for 100 acres of land on the west side of Brandywine dtd, 20. Of August 1703

·        1703: Chester County Court record; Thomas Hope and Elizabeth  (and five other couples) delivered two deeds, one to Thomas Pierson for for 300 acres  and the other to Joseph Worral for 273 acres; both in this county and both dtd, 4. Day of the 12. Month 1703

·        1703: Chester County Court record; Thomas Hoope delivered a deed to Bartholomew Coppock for 100 acres of land in Marple and another tract in Marple Containing 8 7/8 acres and a third part  in the Welsh Tract dtd thirty first day of the 6 month 1703

·        1706/7: Thomas Hope settled in Kennett TWP, Chester County PA. R.E. History of Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Bedford, Adams and Franklin Counties by I.D. Rupp.

·        1707: Chester County Court record; Thomas Hope – Kennett. named as constable dtd 27. Day of May anno domini 1707

·        1707: Concord Monthly Meeting note: Thomas Hope got certificate to Newark Monthly Meeting dtd 6-11-1707 accepted at Newark on 6^th –7^th month 1707

·        1707/8: William Huntly of Kennett, Will dated 1 March 1707/8, proved 10 April 1708 Named Thomas and Elizabeth Hope as guardians for his children and Thomas Hope as Executor.
