I'm researching my Family Treet and would be happy to hear from any relatives. My Grandfather was Archibald Birt Hope m. Helen Macpherson Methven in Kirkcaldy 1914, he was born in Newington, Edinburgh, his parents were Henry and Margaret.

Just found out my 7gg grandfathers will mentioned he was grandson of Thomas Hope of Hopetoun Scotland d. Oct 1 1646. Got digging and would like to know more. Have been researching my Uncle- Thomas Hope's tree and got back to a birth in 1767 (Thomas Hope) which I think was at Craighall! Rumour has it he quarelled over the estate and left to join the Royal Navy finally ending up in Ipswich Suffolk England with a silver porringer bearing the family crest to prove his lineage. If you have any information that can verify this I would be thrilled to hear! Great to discover your site and to see how far flung the Hope Clan have become!
