Clan Hope at Loch Norman Highland Games 2010
May 14th, 2010: The Lake Norman Scottish Games were fantastic! The weather was fabulous and we had plenty of visitors. A record setting 15,000 folks showed up on Saturday to see the games and Sunday was also heavily attended. We were so happy to spend time with new members, Janet Worth and her husband Mark from Asheville. Janet shared some very important DAR documentation regarding Alexander Allison and his link to the Hope family of York Co. SC. We were also blessed with the company of James Hope from Tulsa, Oklahoma. James has agreed to take on the role of Commissioner of the Central States. He will be at the Scottish Games in Arlington, Texas and Riverside, Missouri the first two weeks in June. He will then be representing Clan Hope in Tulsa at the very large Oklahoma Scottish Games! Charles and Hope Stanley drove several hours to be at the Norman games. They are always a big help in running the Clan Hope tent. Hope comes prepared with plenty of food and helps to put on a first class culinary spread! Charles is always ready with his camera. As always, I appreciate their hard work and effort. Cathy Dulin and her two boys, AJ and Conner from Charlotte spent most of the day with us on Saturday. The Dulin family really enjoyed the historical significance of the encampments at the Norman games. Cody Papp entered the kilted mile and won with a time of 5:45! Thanks to everyone that came out for a great weekend! We look forward to seeing you at the Grandfather Games in July!
